A Hollywood Hills compound owned by late filmmaker Wes Craven and, before him, actor Steve McQueen, has sold for above the asking price.

Wes Craven's last home in Hollywood Hills sells for above the asking price

The Hollywood Hills home of late horror filmmaker Wes Craven proved to be one in-demand property.

Listed for sale in April by his widow, producer and production manager Iya Labunka, the Midcentury compound went pending in about a week and sold for $3.525 million  $230,000 above the asking price.

The flat-roofed post-and-beam, built in 1958, has a chain of ownership that also includes actor Steve McQueen.

Found the end of a gated drive, the home has a Zen-inspired fountain and lush vegetation at the entrance. Inside, the 3,594 square feet of open interiors has clean lines, built-ins and tongue-and-groove ceilings. Walls of glass take in canyon and city views.

A living room with a fireplace, a dining area, an updated kitchen, three bedrooms and three full bathrooms lie within the home. There are two offices, each with a private patio. A separate guest quarters has a private entrance.

Fountains, koi ponds and a saltwater swimming pool and spa fill grounds of less than half an acre. Theres also a three-car garage.

Craven, who died last year at 76, was a prolific director. Among his film credits are The Hills Have Eyes, Nightmare on Elm Street and the Scream series.

He bought the property in 1992 for $1.2 million.

McQueen, who died in 1980 at 50, is remembered for his work in movies including the 1960 Western The Magnificent Seven, the 1963 World War II epic The Great Escape and the 1968 heist film The Thomas Crown Affair.
