'Despicable Me' producer buys Brentwood home for $10.1 million

Film producer and Illumination Entertainment CEO Chris Meledandri has paid just shy of $10.1 million for a home in Brentwood.

Set behind a gated drive, the two-story Colonial came to market over the summer at $10.995 million.

Built in 1954 and since updated, the split-level floor plan boasts double-height interiors with hardwood flooring, wood built-ins and detailed molding. The 6,300 square feet of living space contains a formal living room with a stone fireplace, a dining room, a chef's kitchen, six bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

The family room opens to a stone-lined patio with a pool and spa. Elsewhere on the one-acre grounds is a putting green.

Meledandri, 55, founded Illumination Entertainment, the company behind the animated features Despicable Me (2010) and Despicable Me 2" (2013), among others, in 2007. He previously served as head of animation for 20

Century Fox for more than a decade and oversaw the company's acquisition of Blue Sky Studios in 1997.

Laura Brau of Partners Trust Real Estate Brokerage and Acquisitions, Brentwood, was the listing agent, according to the Multiple Listing Service. Jai Winding of the Agency represented Meledandri in the sale.
